For the record attempt, the «  » Red Bull Stratos «  » team only has a balloon, which costs around 540,000 euros. Should this break, it would take around four to five weeks to manufacture a new one. Everything stands and falls with the high-tech balloon.

Red-Bull Stratos LIVE on dual screen (Servus-TV / Youtubestream) with open chat: http://www.qicknews.de/diverses/stratos.php

Red Bull Salzburg has owned the championship plate since Sunday. To top it off, to say goodbye to coach Roger Schmidt, the cup win and thus a double win should follow. The penultimate hurdle on the way there is SV Horn in the semi-finals on Wednesday (6 p.m. / live ATV). In the second cup semi-final, St. Pölten (8.30 p.m. / live ORF Eins) will host SK Sturm. Both teams are hoping to win the Europa League ticket, provided that Salzburg prevails against Horn as expected.

Horn-Salzburg

The Salzburg team secured the league title weeks ago, and they were officially honored on Sunday. « We knew that we would have a difficult cup game three days later, so we didn’t celebrate too much, » emphasized Schmidt. For him, another title win would be a «  » fantastic ending «  », as he will move to Bayer Leverkusen after the season is over. The players want the title as well. « The cup win is very important for us, then we could look back and say we had a great season, » « said goalie Peter Gulacsi.

Before the championship celebration, Salzburg had an ideal dress rehearsal for the fight for a place in the cup final (May 18 in Klagenfurt) with a 4-0 home win against Ried. «  » That was Red Bull Salzburg again. We showed our true colors again, brought our football onto the pitch and that at exactly the right time, « said Schmidt happily.123 lending corporation

Top performance is required

Similarly focused and committed it is now also against the underdog from Lower Austria to appear. «  » We are so confident that we can say that the probability of winning there is very high if we do a top job. But we can’t leave anything to chance, we have to document from the very first second that we take the game seriously, «  » said Salzburg’s coach.

The German took the opponent under the microscope in the most recent league appearance and saw a 1: 4 defeat against the «  » Jungbullen «  » of FC Liefering on Friday, which ended Horn’s series of eight games without a loss. «  » Horn is a good first division team with dangerous tips. We won’t get anything for free there, « warned Schmidt. Isaac Vorsah, Franz Schiemer, Rodnei and Dusan Svento are still unable to play, Sadio Mane, on the other hand, should be able to play despite a knee injury.

Horn doesn’t figure anything out

Only the long-term injured Hannes Eder and Dominik Baumgartner are out of the Hornern team, Manuel Hartl is chipped in the ankle. The kicker of the table seventh burned on the game. «  » We don’t calculate anything, we are humble and happy to be among the last four teams, « said Horn coach Willi Schuldes. His squad should especially enjoy the game against the strongest team by far in Austria in recent years. «  » We have less pressure than in the championship and can play freely because everyone expects us to lose anyway, «  » said Schuldes.

The support of the audience is certain for the outsider, who as seventh is already very close to relegation in the first division. Two additional grandstands have been set up so that around 6,000 spectators will have a seat in the sold-out stadium. «  » There have been more important games for the club, but in terms of size it is the most important in the club’s history, «  » said Horn’s coach. How one can annoy Salzburg as an underdog was shown by the fifth division club FC Piberstein Lankowitz, who only had to admit defeat 5-6 in the second round in September on penalties.

St. Pölten – Sturm Graz

Gerald Baumgartner is said to be the lucky charm for St. Pölten. The Salzburg resident is still undefeated as a coach in his 13 cup games so far, last year he sensationally led FC Pasching to the title. The NV-Arena in the state capital, which opened in 2012, is sold out for the first time. 8,000 spectators have announced themselves. 1,600 tickets went to Graz and were sold at lightning speed.

«  » Sturm is better cast in every position, but in the Cup you always have a chance over 90 minutes. We have already proven that, « said Baumgartner about the starting position. For St. Pölten, the semi-finals are new to the Cup after failing early in the past few years. Moving into the finals would mean the greatest success in the history of the club, which was founded in 2000 as the successor to FCN St. Pölten. Sturm has won the cup four times so far, most recently in 2010.

Milanic warns of SKN skill level

Storm coach Darko Milanic scattered roses on the opponent. «  » For me, this is the strongest team in the (first) division at the moment, « said the Slovenian. St. Pölten deservedly won the 2-1 quarter-finals at Bundesliga club Ried. «  » They showed no respect or fear and played with intelligent tactics, « said Milanic, who watched the fourth in the first division twice himself.

He sees the St. Pöltner as a strong team – which Sturm should meet. «  » We always have our problems against defensive teams, «  » said Milanic, also referring to the recent 2-1 home draw against Wiener Neustadt. By then, storms kickers were already holding the house, to the annoyance of their coach. «  » We’ll perform differently on Wednesday, with more passion, « promised winger Patrick Wolf afterwards.

Failed dress rehearsals

The dress rehearsal for St. Pölten was not satisfactory either. In Mattersburg the «  » Wolves «  » went off the field as 2: 3 losers. The Lower Austrians could at least be happy that a 0: 3 was almost made up. Against the storm, Tomasz Wisio, Konstantin Kerschbaumer and Lukas Kragl, who were banned from Burgenland, return to the squad. Andreas Dober should be fit again after an injury, but goalkeeper Christoph Riegler is still out after a muscle injury in his thigh.

St. Pölten has already been unbeaten in eleven games in the NV Arena at home, and Baumgartner wants to continue this series with «  » heart, passion and a good match plan. It is the first cup home game of the season for his team.

Sturm already prevailed in the quarter-finals at Austria Lustenau (4-0) and in the semi-finals at Admira (1-0) away from home. After a mixed season in the league, there is still a great opportunity for the Graz team for international business. «  » We really want to go to the European Cup. We always have the pressure, we have to achieve this goal, « said striker Robert Beric.

Everything revolves around the weather: in an interview published by the «  » Red Bull Stratos «  » team, extreme athlete Felix Baumgartner did not allow himself to be carried away into speculation about how high he himself estimates the likelihood of the next attempt at jumping in the Roswell desert will work. Meanwhile, the Salzburg man enjoys time with his family.

«  » I’m surrounded by family and friends who all support me very well, « said Baumgartner, explaining how he remained positive despite the delay. «  » I’ve done all of my homework, « said the extreme athlete. «  » All we’re waiting for now is the weather. «  » As for the technical side of the venture, he knows the «  » best team «  » is behind him. He himself has been preparing for this goal since he started base jumping.

Family and friends want to see him back safely

As for the goals of the mission, Baumgartner said it would make him personally proud to be the first person to break the sound barrier in free fall. But it is also about making the new generation of protective suits for space tourists and pilots better and safer. His family and friends, however, just wanted to see him back on earth safely.

An important drive is the huge amount of encouragement that he receives every day. «  » I get messages from people all over the world. In one of them, a 13-year-old boy who is fighting cancer said to me: ‘How you pull off this project spurs me on to fight my own battle’. All of this news is a huge motivation for me. «  »

Baumgartner: Demolition made it clear how difficult a project is

Baumgartner said that the first attempt at the Stratos project had to be canceled due to the weather, making it clear to the audience how difficult the project is. «  » I think it makes them appreciate what they see even more. «  »

If the jump succeeds on Sunday, it would be the same date on which the US aviation general Chuck Yaeger was the first person to break the sound barrier in an airplane in 1947. There are still challenges to be overcome, said the Salzburg native 65 years later: «  » I would be proud to belong to this group of researchers. «  »

RED BULLSHIT The whole thing is a pure marketing theater – first the reports for months, now TV for hours, then postponement etc etc ….. so you get the media and the advertising is priceless. But please not the few intelligent people who see through this for stupid! Do some critical journalism, please!

Felix Baumgartner’s record jump from a height of 36 kilometers is not under a good star: The weather forecast for tomorrow, Thursday, was not favorable either – the planned jump cannot take place. This was announced by Red Bull in Roswell. The new date for the stratospheric jump could be next Sunday.

The record attempt was originally scheduled for Monday, but was postponed to Tuesday due to strong winds and cold temperatures. Here, too, the scheduled start for 6 a.m. local time was initially delayed for several hours. At 11.42 a.m. local time (19.42 CEST), the termination finally took place. «  » It was just a small window that we just missed, « said meteorologist Don Day.

Devilish gust of wind

The Salzburg man was only a few minutes away from his ascent into the stratosphere when a gust of wind of around 40 km / h hit the almost 200-meter-high helium balloon at its tip. The balloon, filled with 850,000 cubic meters of helium, turned on itself, which is why damage to the very thin polyethylene – the envelope is ten times thinner than the material of an ordinary plastic bag – could not be ruled out. The correct functioning of the balloon was no longer guaranteed.

«  » There is no turning back «  »

But giving up is by no means an option for the Salzburg man: «  » We have come this far, there is no turning back now. I don’t care tomorrow or next week, but I want to go to the stratosphere this year. We are ready, «  » said the 43-year-old. The new date for the stratospheric jump could be next Sunday.

Huge interest in not jumping

Even if the jump had to be called off on Tuesday, the media dominated the event nationally and internationally. The ORF and, of course, the private broadcaster Servus TV, which belongs to Red Bull and which achieved a record rate, benefited. 222,000 viewers switched to Servus TV at 5:00 p.m. in the hope that Baumgartner’s balloon could still start. At the same time there were 337,000 viewers at ORF. The Stratos jump also caused online access to skyrocket: The Servus TV homepage recorded 604,000 video views over the entire day – another record.

Four records in sight

Baumgartner has been preparing for the project for five years. With a successful jump, the Salzburg resident would break four records: the highest manned balloon flight, the longest free fall, breaking the sound barrier as the first person in free fall and the highest jump in the world.

In Roswell, Felix Baumgartner was the first person to break the sound barrier in free fall, jumped from a height of almost 40 kilometers with a parachute and thus probably became immortal.
